Shubhanjana Das

Shubhanjana Das is a journalist and photographer, currently working as a general assignment reporting fellow at a non-profit publication, Sahan Journal in Minneapolis, Minnesota. She recently graduated from Columbia Journalism School with a focus on multimedia journalism and international correspondence. At Columbia, Shubhanjana was the recipient of the 2025 Bell Campbell Award for “exceptional leadership and public service in journalism.”

At Columbia, she trained extensively in photo journalism and documentary filmmaking, along with foreign correspondence, feature writing, and OSINT reporting.

She has been an independent journalist and writer for five years, covering environment, religion, culture, gender, and lifestyle in India. Her work is an investigation into the status quo in intersections of the genres she writes in, and attempts to put a human face to national and international policies.

Her work has been published in Vogue India, VICE, Mongabay, The Indian Express, The Latin Times, PassBlue, Mint, Travel & Leisure, ELLE India, Architectural Digest, The Established, Kashmir Observer, and Lifestyle Asia India, among others. 

Shubhanjana has also worked with sustainability-driven Indian homegrown brands, creating brand narratives and providing consultation on content and communication strategy. 

An English Honors major from Presidency University, Kolkata, Shubhanjana is a proud mom to her cats Billa and Kiki, a dancer, and an outdoor enthusiast.
